Kala chana chaat or Black chick peas chaat……It is also called Ghugni.
Black chick peas 2 cups (soaked over night with 1 tsp baking soda)
Then Wash and strain in a strainer
oil 1/2 cup
Medium size Onions 2 (sliced)
Ginger paste 2 tbsp
Red chili powder 1 tbsp
Turmeric powder 1 /2 tsp
Coriander powder 1 tsp
Salt 2 tsp
Green chillies chopped
Coriander leaves chopped
Onions cut in slices
Heat oil in a pot.
Add sliced onion, fry till they are lightly brown.
Add in ginger paste, fry again till it releases aroma.
Then add chick peas , fry nicely till the oil starts to float.(you can add 2 tbsp tamarind pulp or 1 chopped tomato if desired)
Mix in salt, red chili powder, coriander pwd,turmeric and fry well.
Add 4 glasses of water and Simmer on low flame till chick peas are tender and the oil starts to float.
Garnish with sliced onions,green chillies and coriander leaves.
